The Regional Hospital Sint-Trudo in Sint-Truiden has 310 beds and is a district hospital for the region of South-West Limburg and southern Flemisch Brabant. At the moment the Regional Hospital Sint-Trudo is still active at two campuses: campus Sint-Jozef and campus Sint-Anna, this in expectation of the architectonic unification at campus Sint-Jozef in 2012.
The Sint-Trudo hospital asked hict to guide the hospital in constructing a qualitative organisation so that qualitative processes can be drawn up uniformly and consistently. Besides this the hospital also wanted guidance in selecting a software package allowing their own employees to draw up and manage the processes logically.
Based on a ‘Total Quality Management’ approach an inventory was made of existing quality activities in Sint-Trudo (processes, quality benchmarks, embedding in the organisation, etc.). After this, all aspects were integrated by means of a Plan-Do-Check-Act approach, which allowed the uniform definition of quality using BPMN processes. Specifications and marketing research were made so that the hospital could purchase judiciously the best-fit system. After that hict evaluated the relevance, coherence and steerability of the first processes.
The final result was a process which has been installed hospital-wide in Sint-Trudo with a clear definition of the roles and responsibilities. This way processes can be drawn up, evaluated and followed up uniformly. The processes are stored in a new, qualitative process environment using an effective quality software.
