Jan Yperman Hospital – Specifications Meal registration

The Jan Yperman Hospital in Ieper is a merged hospital that groups since 1998 three general hospitals from the region – Kliniek Zwarte Zusters (Ieper), OLV Hospitaal (Ieper) and Mariaziekenhuis (Poperinge). Since 2007 all the activities are centralised at one campus, with still an outpatient's clinic in Poperinge.

Description | business case

The Jan Yperman Hospital wanted to join and extend the existing computer systems for the follow-up of administered antibiotics and infection prevention. The hospital asked hict to formulate the specifications for this new system which has to serve as a basis to start negotiations with suppliers.

Approach

When formulating the specifications the Volere™ template for requirements analysis was used. This method describes:

  • the objectives of the new system;
  • the functioning of the old system;
  • the functional requirements;
  • the non-functional requirements;
  • the limitations of the system.

 Result

Based on the requirements analysis a report was drawn up with:

  • the specifications for the new system;
  • diagrams based on UML and BPMN;
  • a summary of the requirements.
