UZA – Inventory of patient flow processes

Description | business case

As part of the programme ‘Patient flow’ hict was asked to make an inventory and modelling of all processes related to the administrative and logistic flow of patients.

Based on a number of interviews with the different services/medical units in the hospital, a first model was made of the main patient flows. This model was then refined during some workshops with the remaining services/medical units. The different models were documented using BPMN process flows in Intalio Process Designer. Processes, roles, responsibilities and bottlenecks were further explained in separate documents. Finally the different documents and forms, used at the different services/medical units, were mapped, in preparation for a future uniformisation.

  • clear view on the ‘AS IS’ situation by means of detailed models of the processes;
  • initial impetus to improvement propositions.
